Hi, is there any premium feature that allows me to write content that isn't in my bio/info section? Basically like a blog tab? Or do I need to sign up for a blog service like wordpress and then link it to Flavors "services"

Thanks,

-Mike T.

    Hi Mike,

We support a number of blog services. You would need to create a blog externally and then can easily link it to your account under Content > Add. You can see a full list of supported services at http://flavors.me/services.

    Best,
    Heather

Ok, what about adding text fields to services that you allow integration for? Like for example soundcloud. I notice that flavors does not pull in any of the text info along with the tracks from sound cloud. Is there a way that I can ad text once they are on my flavors page? Can I do that with Vimeo or youtube videos as well if I ad the service? I'd like to be able to write little descriptions about what you people are seeing or hearing.

    Hi Mike,

You can certainly do this with our custom content feature! We support HTML embeds for SoundCloud players, Vimeo and YouTube videos, and many more in the design panel under Content > Add > Custom > General. Just click the HTML button before pasting in your video or audio embed code, then add any sort of text alongside the embed! I've listed relevant help articles on embeds below. Let us know if that helps you out!

    SoundCloud embeds: http://soundcloud.com/pages/widgets
    Vimeo embeds: http://vimeo.com/help/faq#other_site
    YouTube embeds: http://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en-GB&answer...

Ok, thanks for the info! So, it sounds like in order to do what I need here I should embed these things into the custom content fields rather than syncing the service as a whole the way it appears in the sidebar then. Ok. Can you embed more than one thing into a single custom content button? I'd rather have fewer buttons and just allow people to scroll through content when they open say -a music thing or a video thing.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hey Mike,

Yes you can embed as many things as you would like in a custom content page. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Tatiana

Thanks Tatiana, I'm actually trying to embed a youtube video now but it wont work. It just shows up as code in my custom content field... does this take some time to start working or is it supposed to be instant? I followed the youtube embed instructions and I clicked on the enable html button. Am I missing a step?

    Hi Mike,

Be sure to click the HTML view button (it's located above the custom content body field) before pasting in your code.

Yeah that's what I'm doing... all it does is slightly change the code. I've tried saving it both ways -clicking html on and off and it's no different.

    Hi Mike,

Apologies for the confusion. I've attached a screenshot of the HTML button you need to click before using embed codes, and I've successfully entered yours now.

    Thanks,
    Katie

Weird, that's the one I was clicking... it didn't do anything for me but I see you have it working now.... what I would like to do is ad more embedded youtube videos in that same tab along with some captions. so... I guess I'll just paste additional embed codes in there and it should work eh?
    Thanks for your help.

Hey, so I need "further help" again -sorry :/ I'm trying to embed a soundcloud widget in a custom content field that I named "music production." I'm doing it exactly the same way that you showed me with youtube videos but yet again it isn't saving with the HTML -it's just a bunch of embed code... is it something to do with when you paste in the code? Like does the HTML button need to be toggled a certain way from the get go? I keep clicking it and saving and then doing it again but it doesn't change the code for some reason...

    Hi,

Yes before pasting in the code, please first click on the HTML button before pasting in any code. This will put you in HTML mode so the code can be properly handled. Please let us know if you need further help.

Ok I understand what you are saying but it just seems really arbitrary as to when it actually works the way it is supposed to. I managed to get one soundcloud widget to embed but then I pasted the code from another one below it and it wont work. I've tried toggling the html button in every variation that I can think of before or after pasting the code and it won't embed. I've even dumped the code and re-copied it multiple times just incase there was a syntax error in the code and that isn't working either... it's really strange because the widget above it shows up just fine but the one I'm pasting below it won't work at all...

I have found that with older versions of IE (I believe 7), info entry wouldn't work for me the same way as it did with Firefox or Chrome. Maybe that is the case for you and you need a modern browser?

    Hi Adam,

Ah, thanks for those details. Upgrading to IE9 will definitely improve your editing experience on Flavors. Let us know if that does the trick for you.

    Thanks,

I'm using the most recent version of OS X (or close to it) and Safari....

could you maybe look at the custom content field that I'm talking about (it's called "Music Production") and take a look at the sound cloud code that I'm trying to embed and see if I'm doing something wrong?

    Hi Mike,

You'll just need to be sure you're in the HTML mode when you paste in the SoundCloud embed. I've attached an image that illustrates the sort of HTML markup you'll see in that mode. Also note that when you're properly in HTML mode, the other text editing buttons don't display.
